  • 1Recall ways water is used in daily life in Ghanaian homes and schools
  • 2Ask learners to name three ways Ama and Kwame use water at home and school; write responses on chalkboard
  • IDENTIFYING RESPONSIBLE AND IRRESPONSIBLE WATER USE
  • 1Draw two columns on the chalkboard titled 'Good Water Use' and 'Bad Water Use'; read aloud five scenarios (e.g., Kofi uses rainwater to water his garden; Abena leaves the tap running while brushing teeth) and ask learners to point left or right to show which column each belongs to
  • 2Display the textbook page showing water sources in Ghana; learners copy into exercise books the label 'Treated Water' and 'Rainwater' under two simple drawings you sketch on the board
  • 3Explain using one sentence: treated water costs money and is for drinking and cooking, so we must use rainwater or well water for gardens and watering plants. Use Textbook during the task.
  • 1Textbook
  • 2Exercise book
  • 3Chalkboard
  • 1Ask learners to stand and mime one responsible water use action (e.g., closing a tap, collecting rainwater) while others guess
  • 2Learners chant together three times: 'Treated water for drinking, rainwater for plants—save water, save Ghana.'
Exercise
  • 1Write or draw one way you will use water responsibly at home this week instead of using treated water for plants in their exercise books.
