  • 1Identify characteristics that define a responsible citizen in the community
  • 2Ask learners: What does Ama's mother do when she sweeps the street in front of their compound and helps neighbours carry water? Is she being a good citizen? Why?
  • ACTIVE AND PASSIVE CITIZENS — DEFINITION AND EXAMPLES
  • 1Write on the chalkboard: 'Active citizen = contributes to community well-being. Passive citizen = does not contribute.' Read aloud together three times
  • 2Present two case studies using the exercise book: (1) Kwesi picks up litter at school and returns lost money to the teacher. (2) Yaw sees broken desks but does not report them; he ignores the school rules. Ask: Which is active? Which is passive? Learners write A or P next to each name in their exercise books
  • 3Call on one volunteer from the group that finished first to share their answers aloud and explain why. Use Textbook during the task.
