  • 1Recall the basic features of MS-Publisher and identify where text boxes are located in the software interface
  • 2Show learners a blank MS-Publisher document via the projector. Ask: What do you see on the screen? What parts do you recognise from other software like Word? Learners raise hands to name menu bars, toolbars, and the blank canvas
  • ADDING AND MODIFYING TEXT IN MS-PUBLISHER
  • 1Open MS-Publisher on the computer and projector. Click Insert > Text Box. Draw a text box on the blank page and type: 'Ama's Catering Business – Quality Food Delivery'. Select the text and change the font from Arial to Calibri using the font dropdown menu. Learners follow along on their own laptops, copying each step
  • 2Ask learners to select the same text and increase the font size from 12pt to 18pt by clicking the font size arrow. Then select the text again and apply bold formatting by pressing Ctrl+B or clicking the Bold button. Learners demonstrate each modification on their screens and raise hands when complete. Use Computer/Laptop during the task.
  • 3Struggling learners: work in pairs with a peer; fast finishers modify the text colour using Format > Font Colour after completing the base task.

  • 1Ask: What are three things we did to text in MS-Publisher today? Learners whisper answers to their partner, then one volunteer from each pair shares one action aloud (add text, change font, change size, apply bold)
  • 2Display your sample document with modified text on the projector. Learners vote by thumbs up if they can see all three changes: different font type, larger size, and bold formatting
Exercise
  • 1Open MS-Publisher. Create a text box, type 'Techiman Market – Best Prices', and modify the text by changing the font type to Times New Roman and the size to 16pt. Take a screenshot or show your screen to the teacher in their exercise books.
