- 1Recall the names of at least three social media platforms learners use or have seen in their daily lives
- 2Ask learners: What apps do you see on your parents' or friends' phones? Learners call out names chorally and you write them on the board (WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.). Circle the ones that are social media platforms

- UNDERSTANDING PHOTO SHARING AND VIDEO SHARING PLATFORMS
- 1Using the Computer/Laptop and Projector, display the projector screen showing a simple comparison chart (Title: 'Types of Social Media'). Draw two columns: 'Photo Sharing' and 'Video Sharing'. Explain: Photo sharing sites let you post pictures (Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest). Video sharing sites let you upload and watch videos (YouTube, Facebook Live, Periscope, Vimeo). Learners copy the chart into their exercise books, filling in 2–3 examples under each column as you point to the projected image
- 2Distribute a printed worksheet or write on the board: 'Sort these platforms: Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook Live, Pinterest, Vimeo.' Learners work in pairs to write each platform under 'Photo Sharing' or 'Video Sharing' in their books. Call on one representative from 3 different pairs to read their answers aloud. Confirm correct classifications and explain why each fits its category using the Internet connection to show a screenshot or brief example if available
- 3Struggling learners: provide a word bank with photos/icons of each platform name. Fast finishers: ask them to identify which platform their parents use most and why.

- 4Comparison chart (projected or drawn)
- 5Exercise books
- 6Printed worksheet (optional)

- 1Learners stand if the platform you call is a photo sharing site, sit if it is a video sharing site. Call: Instagram (stand), YouTube (sit), Snapchat (stand), Facebook Live (sit), Pinterest (stand), Vimeo (sit). Repeat twice, increasing speed
- 2Ask: Which platform would Yakubu use to share a video of his farm work, and which would Amina use to post a picture of her new dress? Learners raise hands and explain their choice in one sentence to a partner, then one volunteer shares with the whole class
Exercise
- 1Write the names of two photo sharing platforms and two video sharing platforms you learned today. Name one reason why someone might choose a photo sharing site over a video sharing site in their exercise books.

|
- 1Learners will recall the characteristics and main purposes of social media platforms introduced on Day 1
- 2Show a quick collage of 6 social media logos (Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook Live, Pinterest, Vimeo) on the projector for 30 seconds. Ask learners to whisper to their partner: Which ones have you heard of or seen before?

- CLASSIFYING SOCIAL MEDIA: PHOTO-SHARING VS VIDEO-SHARING PLATFORMS
- 1Display the 8 social media platforms on the laptop projector. Read aloud the name and main purpose of each: Instagram (photo + short video), Snapchat (temporary photo + video messages), Pinterest (photo collections + ideas), YouTube (long-form videos), Facebook Live (live video streaming), Periscope (live video app), Vimeo (professional video hosting). Ask learners to copy the platform name and write one word describing its primary function in their exercise books
- 2Divide the class into two groups: Group A (Photo-sharing) and Group B (Video-sharing). Call out each platform name and ask the group responsible to stand and shout its category. Repeat 5 times with different platforms to reinforce classification. Struggling learners may work with the projector showing the categories while the activity runs, marking off each platform as it is called
- 3Struggling learners: provide a printed reference card with platform names and categories to consult during the standing activity; fast finishers may explain to a partner why each platform fits its category.

- 2Projector
- 3Internet connection
|
- 1Ask: Show me with your fingers—how many photo-sharing sites did we learn today? How many video-sharing sites? Learners hold up fingers. Confirm the count: 3 photo-sharing, 5 video-sharing
- 2Pair learners and ask them to take turns describing one social media platform to their partner without naming it; the partner guesses and states whether it is photo or video sharing
Exercise
- 1Write the names of five social media platforms on the board: Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook Live, Pinterest. Ask learners to draw two columns (Photo-sharing | Video-sharing) in their exercise books and sort all five platforms into the correct column with one reason for each choice
