  • 1Recall the names and functions of basic computer parts and technology tools
  • 2Show learners a computer or laptop in the classroom and ask: What parts do you see? Learners raise hands to name what they observe (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers)
  • IDENTIFYING COMPUTER HARDWARE PARTS
  • 1Using the Computer/Laptop and Projector, display a labeled diagram of a complete computer system. Point to each part (mouse, keyboard, monitor, system unit, speakers) and have learners repeat the name chorally three times. Then ask: Which part helps us type? Which part shows us information? Learners answer by pointing to their own items or raising hands
  • 2Place actual computer components or pictures of them (memory stick, hard disk drive, CD-ROM) on display at the front of the class. Call learners in pairs to come forward, identify one item using the Textbook diagram as reference, and whisper its name to you before the class repeats it together
  • 3Struggling learners: work with the five main external parts only (mouse, keyboard, monitor, system unit, speakers). Fast finishers: identify which items are input devices, output devices, or storage devices.
  • 1Computer/Laptop
  • 2Projector
  • 3Textbook
  • 4Internet connection
  • 1Ask learners to draw and label three computer parts in their exercise books from memory. Select one volunteer to come to the board and label a computer diagram using the projector image as reference
  • 2Learners compare their labeled drawings with the person sitting next to them and correct any mistakes together using the diagram on the projector
Exercise
  • 1Write the names of five computer parts you have seen today and state whether each one is an input device, output device, or storage device in their exercise books.
