  • 1Recall the basic rules and positioning requirements of one invasion sport (handball, basketball, or football)
  • 2Display three invasion sport names on the chalkboard: handball, basketball, football. Ask learners to shout out one rule they remember from each sport
  • APPLYING MOVEMENT PRINCIPLES IN SMALL-GROUP INVASION GAME
  • 1Divide the class into three groups: Group 1 plays handball with adapted court size using cones, Group 2 plays basketball with lowered hoop and soft ball, Group 3 plays football with modified field boundaries marked by cones. Each group plays using the Textbook diagrams to guide positioning and passing lanes. Teacher circulates to observe and give verbal feedback on spacing and passing accuracy
  • 2Ask each group to record in their Exercise book one movement principle they used (e.g. 'we stood apart to give space for passes') and one strategy that helped them score or defend
  • 3Rotate groups so each plays a different sport. Call on one representative from each group to demonstrate one correct passing position to the class on the court. Use Textbook (invasion sports diagrams) during the task.
  • 1Textbook (invasion sports diagrams)
  • 2Exercise book
  • 3Chalkboard
  • 4Cones
  • 5Soft ball
  • 6Basketball hoop (lowered)
  • 1Ask learners to stand and mime the most important movement principle they learned today while others guess which sport and principle it is
  • 2Learners whisper to their partner one way they will use better positioning in their next game at school or in their community
Exercise
  • 1In your Exercise book, draw and label the correct passing position for one invasion sport you played today, then write one sentence explaining why that position helps your team
