  • 1Identify basic movement concepts and strategic principles used in invasion sports
  • 2Ask learners: What does it mean to have space in a game like football? Learners whisper answers to their partner before sharing aloud
  • APPLYING SPACE AND MOVEMENT CONCEPTS IN A 3-VS-3 BASKETBALL GAME
  • 1Set up a small court; divide class into two groups of 3. Using the chalkboard, write three key concepts: (1) Use space to move away from defenders, (2) Pass when marked, (3) Move to open areas. Learners play game applying one concept at a time
  • 2Pause play; ask: Why did Kwame pass to Kofi instead of shooting? Learners discuss how decision-making changes based on defender position. Record one example in exercise books
  • 3Rotate groups; repeat game with emphasis on adapting movement based on opponent placement — learners practise changing direction and speed. Use Textbook during the task.

Exercise
