  • 1Learners will recall the key promises God made to Abraham and Moses from biblical narratives
  • 2Ask learners: When someone makes you a promise, what do you expect them to do? Learners share answers chorally. Guide responses toward the idea of keeping a promise and showing trust
  • UNDERSTANDING GOD'S PROMISES TO ABRAHAM AND MOSES
  • 1Use the Textbook to read aloud the story of Abraham's call. Write on the chalkboard: Abraham was promised a land, children, and a great nation. Ask learners to copy this into their Exercise books and underline the three promises. Select a learner to read their copied promises aloud to confirm accuracy
  • 2Divide the class into two equal groups. Group 1 discusses God's promise to Moses (deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt, a land of milk and honey). Group 2 discusses God's promise to Abraham (descendants and land). Each group uses the Textbook to find one key verse or statement. A representative from each group shares their finding with the class in one sentence
  • 3Struggling learners work with simplified versions: Abraham got land and children; Moses freed people and led them to a promised land.
  • 1Textbook
  • 2Exercise book
  • 3Chalkboard
  • 1Learners form pairs and compare the two promises on the chalkboard. Ask: What is similar between God's promise to Abraham and God's promise to Moses? Pairs whisper their answer to each other, then one pair shares aloud
  • 2Ask learners: Why do you think God made these promises to Abraham and Moses? Learners raise hands and give one reason each (faith, obedience, trust). Write three reasons on the chalkboard
Exercise
  • 1In your Exercise book, write one sentence to answer: What was God's main promise to Moses? Use the word 'freedom' or 'deliverance' in your answer
