  • 1Recall the location of the Insert tab and identify where images are stored in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • 2Display the PowerPoint ribbon on the projector. Ask learners: Where do we go to add pictures to a slide? Learners point to their screens or raise hands when they identify the Insert tab
  • INSERTING AND FORMATTING PICTURES IN POWERPOINT
  • 1Open Microsoft PowerPoint on the Computer/Laptop connected to the Projector. Click the Insert tab, then locate the Images Group. Click Pictures From This Device and select a saved image of Accra Central Market. Demonstrate dragging the image to resize it and changing its position on the slide. Ask learners: What did we click first to add the picture? Invite a learner to repeat the steps aloud while you follow along
  • 2Distribute the Learners Resource Pack and ask each learner to follow the same steps on their own device: insert a picture, resize it using the corner handle, and move it to the centre of the slide. Circulate and check that learners are using the correct method. Once pictures are inserted, show how to right-click the image and select Format Picture to change brightness and contrast. Ask: How did the picture change when you adjusted the brightness?
  • 3Struggling learners: work in pairs with a stronger peer who guides them through each step. Fast finishers: insert two images, resize both, and change their brightness independently.
  • 1Computer/Laptop
  • 2Projector
  • 3Learners Resource Pack
  • 4Textbook
  • 1Ask one representative from each group of four to share their slide showing the resized and formatted picture on the Projector. Learners observe and identify which formatting choices were made (brightness, contrast, size)
  • 2Learners hold up their exercise books and draw a simple diagram labelling the Insert tab, Images Group, and a resized picture. Invite a confident learner to draw the same on the board while others check their own work
Exercise
  • 1Open a blank PowerPoint slide and insert a picture of Kofi's farm in the Ashanti Region from your device. Resize the picture so it fits half the slide width, then change its brightness to 75%. Write the name of the tab and tool you used in your exercise book
