  • 1Identify the key footwork and grip techniques needed to play beginning level badminton
  • 2Ask learners to mime holding a badminton racket and show thumbs up/down if their grip looks correct based on a demonstration on the chalkboard
  • BADMINTON GRIP AND FOOTWORK FUNDAMENTALS
  • 1Display correct badminton grip and court positioning on the chalkboard; learners copy the grip holding an imaginary racket and state the three zones of the court (front, middle, back)
  • 2Learners practice the ready stance with feet shoulder-width apart while you call out directions; pairs check each other's posture using the textbook diagram as reference
  • 3Learners move through the court performing forward lunges, backward steps and side shuffles in sequence, counting aloud to develop rhythm and coordination. Use Textbook during the task.

  • 1Kofi stands in the back of a badminton court and sees the shuttle coming to his front-left corner — describe the three footwork steps he should take and the grip he should use to hit the return shot in their exercise books.
