  • 1Recall key French vocabulary related to hygiene and health practices
  • 2Display pictures of hygiene actions (brushing teeth, washing hands, eating vegetables) on the board. Ask learners to identify each action by name in English first, then whisper the French word to their partner
  • 1DIALOGUE SUR L'HYGIèNE ET LA SANTé — COMPRENDRE ET PRATIQUER
  • 2Play the audio recording a second time, pausing after each sentence. Learners repeat chorally three times, focusing on pronunciation. Write key phrases on the board: 'Je me lave les mains', 'Je mange sainement', 'Je suis en bonne santé'. Ask learners to underline these phrases in their exercise books and match them with corresponding pictures
  • 3Divide the class into pairs. Assign each pair a hygiene scenario: Kofi and Ama at breakfast (discussing what to eat for health), Kwame and Abena at the clinic (describing symptoms and preventive measures), Yaw and Akua at home (planning their evening hygiene routine). Each pair rehearses their dialogue using the French dictionary to check vocabulary, then one representative from each group performs for the class
  • 4Struggling learners: work with the board phrases only and use a sentence frame: 'Je [verb] pour rester en bonne santé'. Fast finishers: extend their dialogue by adding a third character (parent, nurse, or doctor) and explain why each hygiene action is important.
  • 1Audio recordings of hygiene and health dialogues
  • 2French dictionary
  • 3Exercise book
  • 4Pictures of hygiene actions
  • 1Ask learners to stand in a circle. Play the audio recording once more. Learners repeat the key sentences chorally, then whisper one sentence to the learner next to them, who whispers it forward to the next learner
  • 2Invite a confident learner to summarise in French one hygiene rule from the dialogue. The rest of the class shows thumbs up if they agree or thumbs down if they would add something different
Exercise
  • 1In your exercise book, write three sentences in French describing what you do every day to stay healthy and clean. Use the structure: 'Je [verb] pour rester en bonne santé.' Check your spelling using the French dictionary
